Brian Pattie’s main area of study is interpersonal communication, with a primary focus on interpersonal conflict. He has presented his work on communication in romantic relationships, conflict management, and relationship maintenance at the annual conference of the National Communication Association. He is also a member of the Iowa Communication Association and received the Outstanding New Teacher Award in 2018.
