Intraships

The athletic training program offers seven intensive on-campus research experiences - called 'intraships' - in which students work directly with a faculty member and patients to develop and implement protocols in one of the following areas:

  1. Ankle Stability and Injury Prevention
  2. Computerized Concussion Management
  3. Active-at-Practice Rehabilitation
  4. Active Athletic Return-to-Play
  5. Orthopedic Screening and Dynamic Warm-Up
  6. Post Overhead Throwing Dynamic Recovery
  7. In-Season Conditioning and Injury Prevention

These projects are intensive. For example, in the "In-Season Conditioning and Injury Prevention" option, students examine athletes before their sports seasons and take them through a series of tests to look for range-of-motion deficiencies. The program designs team warm-ups around general tendencies, with personalized warm-ups adapted to individual needs. When injuries do occur, students and clinicians work with athletes on personalized regimens. Not only does the project provide an intensive, individualized approach to injury prevention, it offers you, as an athletic training student, unparalleled participation running warm-ups, supervising exercises and helping with injuries, experiencing hands-on the best practices for the things you will do daily as a professional.
