“…learned how to work with a diverse group of people”

Alexis Wiltgen, Class of 2014

Alexis Wiltgen

Hometown: Le Mars, Iowa
Majors: Elementary Education
Research title: “Our Cultures: Our Stories (Education Perspective)”

“I worked together with middle school students, college students and professors, so I learned how to work with a diverse group of people toward a common goal. The research greatly impacted my learning by showing me the importance of group work and how important it is to demonstrate to students what good group work looks like. Research is something that is important to me now as a college student, and later as a future teacher.”

“…remarkable education and networking opportunities”

Heather Hansman, Class of 2013

Heather Hansman

Hometown: Westside, Iowa
Majors: Athletic Training
Research title: “Evidence Based Medicine in Athletic Training: Using Patient-Based Self-Reported Measures in Long-Term Rehabilitation”

“After a semester of collecting research, I was fortunate enough to be selected to present at the Mid-America Athletic Trainers’ Association (MAATA) conference. Even though I was nervous, my presentation on this topic was very rewarding. Also, knowing that I wanted to continue my education in the health field after graduating from BVU, I knew that doing research would not only be interesting, it would help set me apart from other applicants.”
