Visiting Artist: Sculptures by Patrick Luber

October 25 - November 26, 2012

The BVU Art Gallery will be featuring sculpture works by Patrick Luber from October 25th -November 26th. There will be a ACES presentation by the artist, and a closing reception on November 26th. The presentation will begin at 2:00 pm. The reception will follow the presentation until 4:30 pm.

Luber's work springs from the human practice of prayer, specifically the practice of expressing prayer and/or religious beliefs in visual form. In spite of an ever-increasing scientific world, the desire to communicate with god(s) through prayer and ritual continues to hold importance for millions of people around the world. What do people pray for? Has prayer changed in the twenty-first century? In what ways have the visual manifestations of prayer changed? In part, these questions form the basis of his artistic exploration.
