Business Internships
“...connections with alumni”
Beatrice Biedenfeld, Class of 2014
Hometown: Colfax, Iowa
Major: Business Management
Internship: Iowa Sports Foundation, Ames, Iowa
Plans after graduation: Would like to work in event management
"I heard about this internship because of an alum who contacted Dr. Scott Anderson about the opening. Being a student at BVU not only provides you with an education it immediately gives you connections with alumni who want to help students succeed. In addition, my internship ensured that event management is something I am interested in and made me consider working for a non-profit organization."
“...real-world experience that you just can’t simulate”
Kyle Auffert, Class of 2013
Hometown: Clarinda, Iowa
Major: Accounting
Internship: Hy-Vee Corporate Office in 2011 and 2012, West Des Moines, Iowa; McGladrey LLP in 2012, Des Moines, Iowa
Plans after graduation: Has accepted a full-time position at McGladrey LLP in Des Moines and will begin work as a tax associate in fall 2013
"The most eye-opening aspect of my internships at McGladrey and Hy-Vee was realizing how life changing and how important they really are. Internships have been, by far, the most important experiences of my college career. I learned so much in just a semester’s time at McGladrey and gained real-world experience that you just can’t simulate in a classroom. My experiences will benefit me in my future career because future employers will be able to look at my resume and see that I took the initiative during my busy college career to seek out internships."
Griffin Hatten, Class of 2013
Hometown: Bancroft, Iowa
Majors at BVU: Finance/banking and marketing
Internship host: HSBC Bank in 2012, London, England
Plans after graduation: Would like to work in finance, sales, or entrepreneurship
"My internship cemented my dreams of becoming an entrepreneur. I hope future employers will appreciate the value in me traveling outside the U.S. and outside my comfort zone, as well as my ability to adapt to and learn other cultures. I advise any student to really consider traveling abroad."
