Play: The Big Question

At some point in life, people are brought into situations where they seek approval for getting into another family or group. This play is about a man who goes to his girlfriend’s house for a party. There he plans to ask her father for his permission to marry her. However, throughout the play, many cultural misunderstandings interfere with the accomplishing of his mission. This comical play helps demonstrate how people are not always culturally aware enough of other cultures besides their own. The Big Question was inspired by the desire to show a small part of my Latino culture to the audience and help them realize there are many characteristics that are similar between Latinos and many other families’.
