4th Annual Summer Reunion

The 4th annual "Summer Reunion" for BVU Grads 50 + years ago is being held on campus on June 5 & 6. The event will include a full day of activities, programs and learning opportunities presented by BVU faculty and staff. There will also be ample time to tour the campus and reminisce with fellow alumni. Make plans now to join other BVU alumni on campus for this exciting event.

First Summer Session Begins

The first summer session begins today on our Storm Lake campus.

Commencement

The Commencement procession will begin to move through the Victory Arch at 2:15 p.m. and enter Siebens Fieldhouse at 2:30 p.m.

A reception hosted by the National Alumni Association will be held immediately following the Commencement ceremony on the east lawn of the Siebens Fieldhouse. All graduates, guests, faculty and staff are invited to relax and celebrate with you and your family. In case of inclement weather, the reception will be held in the Lamberti Recreation Center.

Baccalaureate

Graduates are invited to sit with their family and friends at the Baccalaureate service. Academic apparel will not be worn at this service.

2013 Baccalaureate

An Invitation to the Entire BVU Community, as well as to Family and Friends: It is with great pleasure that Buena Vista University will be hosting the Baccalaureate Service in honor of the Class of 2013. The service will be held on Saturday, May 25 at 10:30 a.m. in Schaller Memorial Chapel. This program will be a special blessing and sending service compiled by members of the BVU community. We would be honored by your attendance, for each of you has played an important role in the success and achievements of our new graduates. Please join us in celebrating the day with these students and in asking God’s blessings upon their lives and their collective journey forward. (There will not be a formal processional, special seating or the need for caps and gowns for the 2013 Baccalaureate Service). We hope to see you there.

Commencement Cap and Gown Distribution

Congratulations seniors on your achievement! We would just like remind you about commencement cap and gown distribution that will be taking place in Anderson Auditorium. Please stop by and pick up your cap and gown. *Campus students we encourage you to pick your cap and gown Thursday or Friday. Saturday is for GPS students and students currently off campus.

2013 Senior Send Off Picnic

The Senior Send Off Picnic will be held on May 23 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Chautauqua Park. Faculty and staff members are invited to join the Class of 2013 to celebrate their accomplishments and wish them well. The first 150 seniors to arrive will receive a free BVU alumni t-shirt. Email the Office of Alumni Relations at devalum@bvu.edu by May 16 to let us know if you will attend. We hope to see all you seniors there!

Commencement Cap and Gown Distribution

Souls for Soles

Do you have shoes that you no longer wear and want to get rid of before summer break? Would you like to help a child without shoes protect their feet? SASW has a solution for both! The Student Association of Social Workers is collecting shoes for Souls for Soles until May 23rd. Recepticles are located in Pierce-White, Social Science and Art, Dixion-Eilers, Swope, Grand and Liberty. Donate your unused shoes before the year ends!

Two Buena Vista University courses will be hosting a special reception Wednesday, May 22nd to celebrate the community’s stories uncovered by BVU students and Storm Lake sixth graders through the Our Culture: Our Stories projects. The gallery includes videos and pictures about diversity, social justice, and the BVU community, showing off all of the great work that has been done by these students this semester. The reception is from 6-8 p.m. in the BVU Art Gallery in the Social Science and Art Hall on campus. Refreshments will also be provided. The display opens on Monday, May 20th and will continue to be open until Saturday, May 25th.

Do you need some original artwork to decorate your home or office? Walk on down to the forum (outside the Common Grounds) and check out the artwork created by BVU students and faculty. You'll find a variety of great finds including: ceramics, paintings, prints, and sculpture. Remember, the earlier you get there the better the selection. See you all there!

Finals Massages!

Come on down to Dows Conference Center to relax before all of your finals! These are real massages- not aqua massages! Please remember to sign up starting at 11am. You must be signed up to get a massage and spots are limited! Good luck on all of your finals and we hope you can take a little time to come relax with us.

The gallery includes videos and pictures about diversity, social justice, and the BVU community, showing off all of the great work that has been done by these students this semester.

Campus Wide Book Drive

A book is worth a thousand worlds. Please contribute to the drive this year all through finals week if you have either unused or used books. There will be boxes for deposit at the Information Desk and in the Campus Store. The books are sold online with proceeds going to a local charity or nonprofit.
