"Career Connect" Events For BVU Students Start Feb.13



Buena Vista University’s Office of Career Services is offering a new program this year to help BVU students prepare for their careers and network with employees.  

Called “Career Connect,” the first part of the program featuring professional preparation events will be held in February.  Networking events with employers will be held in March.  Several of the events qualify for Academic and Cultural Event Series (ACES) credit.

According to Carol Lytle, director of career services, these are the events planned in February:  

Monday, Feb. 13
Graduate School and You - ACES
Hansen 8, 7-8 p.m.
Helping students make graduate school decisions

Monday, Feb. 20
Professional Socializing and You
Dows, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. (RSVP by Feb. 15)
Social business etiquette practice

Wednesday, Feb. 22
Professional Virtual You: Linkedin Rockstars - ACES
Anderson Auditorium, 7 – 8 p.m.
Using social media professionally
Meet the Rockstars at a reception afterward

Your Professional Impact with Jill Swanson

Additional seminars on applying to and selection of graduate schools, and financing graduate education will be held on April 11, 18 and 25 from 7 - 8:30 p.m. in Room 127 at the Estelle Siebens Science Center.

Military Careers Day will be held on Thursday, April 12 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the foyer of Siebens Forum.
